Other Immunisations
In addition to childhood, flu, and COVID‑19 vaccinations, the NHS provides several other important vaccines to protect adults and vulnerable groups from serious infections.
Pneumococcal Vaccine

Protects against pneumococcal disease, which can cause pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections.

Recommended for:

Adults aged 65 and over

Anyone with certain health conditions, such as chronic heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease, diabetes, or a weakened immune system

Usually given as a single dose, sometimes followed by a booster depending on age and health conditions.

Shingles Vaccine

Protects against shingles (herpes zoster), a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of chickenpox virus.

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine

Protects against RSV, which can cause severe respiratory illness, particularly in older adults and those with chronic health conditions.

Adults aged 60 years and over with underlying health conditions (e.g., heart or lung disease)

Usually offered as a single seasonal dose.
